I have initiated a purge of the site's user base. Almost a dozen accounts were eliminated, today. This purge will continue for another week or so. It will target accounts that have had little, if any, activity on them in recent memory.
Any user account that has shown no forum posts or site visits for six months or longer is subject to elimination.
I deleted a number of site users, today, including some of the more recently registered individuals. One thing to look for in low level spammer accounts is that they will register, then seemingly become inactive, but they will make an effort to keep some spam link active in their signatures. It is more noticeable after I have deleted their signature, and depending upon what they have in their signature section.
I would rather leave some potential spam accounts intact on the site, if they are not actively flooding the forums with spam, than to inadvertently delete a non-spam account, merely due to suspicion that they might be a spammer.
The accounts deleted, today, were created prior to some recent changes made to help make the site more secure against spam registrations.
